Niatsu is launching Carbon Chef, an AI-powered tool to footprint food recipes. Developed in collaboration with the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU), Carbon Chef automatically calculates the carbon footprint of recipes and food products, empowering businesses and consumers to make environmentally conscious decisions.

“Our tool captures over 90% of relevant data with precision, providing actionable insights for companies and individuals,” says Jakob Tresch, CTO of Niatsu. “By shedding light on the environmental impact of supply chains, Carbon Chef helps businesses target the most significant areas for improvement.”

Carbon Chef is the result of a partnership between Niatsu and the Applied AI Research Lab at HSLU, leveraging cutting-edge machine learning technology to handle diverse and unstructured data formats. The collaboration highlights how AI can drive meaningful change in sustainability, from emissions reduction to transparency in decision-making.

“Transparency is the first step toward action,” said Alessandro Motta, AI researcher at HSLU. “Carbon Chef gives users the knowledge to make impactful changes.”
